Question 1

Is duct cleaning something Sunnyvale homes need on a schedule?

Accepted Answer

Most households here land somewhere in the three-to-five year range, and plenty of homes go longer without any real consequence. What pushes it sooner: a remodel that put drywall dust in the system, pets, or a return register that keeps graying over within weeks of being wiped. Our dry season runs May through October with no rain, so fine valley dust builds for months and then gets pulled through the ducts the first time the heat or AC runs hard.

Question 2

Walk me through what actually happens on an appointment, start to finish.

Accepted Answer

We hook a negative-air machine to the trunk line, then work each branch and register with rotary brushes and compressed air so debris travels toward the vacuum instead of into your rooms. The blower compartment, coil face, and return drop get cleaned too, since skipping those puts the dirt right back in the air. A single-story ranch tract house runs about two to four hours; larger townhomes near the Lawrence and Mathilda corridors or systems with long attic runs take longer.

Question 3

Why do two Sunnyvale houses get different numbers for the same service?

Accepted Answer

Register count is the biggest driver, followed by how the ductwork is built and how easy it is to reach. Original 1950s-70s orchard-tract homes with galvanized trunk-and-branch in a vented attic open up quickly. Later flex-duct AC retrofits are more delicate and slower, and Eichler-style post-and-beam homes have no attic at all, so overhead or added mini-split ducting takes a different approach. We look at the system in person, at no charge, and give you one firm number before anyone touches it.

Question 4

Is the dryer vent part of this, or do I book it separately?

Accepted Answer

It is a separate line item, because it is a separate machine and a separate method. It is worth adding while we are already there, especially in garage-laundry ranch homes where the duct makes a long run through the attic or along an exterior wall. Lint packs those runs tighter than people expect, and it is a fire issue, not just a drying-time issue.

Question 5

What happens if you find mold growing in my system?

Accepted Answer

We stop and show you, with photos from inside the duct. Growth in Santa Clara County systems usually traces back to a cold coil, a plugged condensate drain, or sweating metal duct in an unconditioned attic during our mild wet winters. Brushing it out without fixing the moisture source means it returns, so we tell you what we see, handle the cleaning we can do properly, and point you toward remediation if the extent calls for it rather than guessing.

Question 6

If I call this morning, does getting on today's schedule cost extra?

Accepted Answer

No. Same-day work is billed exactly like a job booked two weeks out, with no rush charge and no premium for evenings or weekends. Availability is the only variable, and it is usually open during our long shoulder seasons when systems sit idle. We service Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, and American Standard equipment across Sunnyvale.
